How to Analyze a Football Match with AI

1. Get your footage ready

You can analyze a match from three sources: an uploaded video file, a direct video URL, or a YouTube link. A single wide-angle camera that captures most of the pitch works best — the AI tracks events across the full field of play.

For full matches, longer footage is fine; PitchView splits long videos into chunks behind the scenes so analysis stays fast.

2. Choose standard or parallel analysis

Standard analysis runs the whole video in one pass and is ideal for short clips or highlights. Parallel analysis splits the match into overlapping chunks and analyzes them concurrently — much faster for full 90-minute games.

If you are not sure, use parallel analysis for anything longer than about 20 minutes.

3. Read the timestamped events

Once analysis completes you get a timeline of detected events — goals, shots, passes, fouls, offsides and more — each with a timestamp you can jump to. This turns "watch the whole match again" into "jump straight to the 12 moments that matter".

Use the events to build clips for player feedback, scout opponents, or prepare match strategy.

Tips for better results

Higher-resolution footage improves detection accuracy. Keep the camera steady and as wide as possible. And pick the sport explicitly (or use auto-detect) so the AI applies the right event model.
