What PitchView AI detects in a baseball game

  • Hits — singles, doubles, triples and home runs, with where the ball went (left, centre or right field).
  • Outs — strikeouts (swinging or looking), ground outs, fly outs, line outs and pop outs.
  • Baserunning — stolen bases, caught stealing and runners advancing on an error.
  • Pitching — walks, hit-by-pitches, wild pitches and balks.
  • Fielding — errors, double plays and standout catches.
  • Scoring — every run scored, with the RBI.

When it's visible on screen, the count (for example 3–2) is noted, as is the situation — bases loaded or runners in scoring position. Mound visits and warm-up pitches are left out.

How it works

  1. 1

    Add your footage

upload a video file (up to 500 MB: MP4, AVI, MOV, MKV or WebM), paste a direct video URL or a YouTube link. For YouTube you can choose the download quality; the recommended one is pre-selected.

  2. 2

    Choose the sport

pick it from the list, or let PitchView auto-detect it from a YouTube link. You confirm the sport before the analysis starts, and can pick the two teams from your Teams list so events are attributed to them.

  3. 3

    Standard, parallel or live

standard analysis processes the whole video in one pass, ideal for highlights and short clips. Parallel analysis splits long footage into short overlapping segments and analyses several at once, with events appearing as each segment finishes. Stream analysis works on a match while it's being broadcast live.

  4. 4

    Review and export

events appear on an interactive timeline; click any one to jump to that moment. Mark events as correct, wrong or duplicate, edit them, add your own, re-run the analysis with a custom prompt, and export the results.

Getting the best results

  • A centre-field or high-home camera showing the pitcher, batter and catcher gives the best read of each at-bat; a wider view helps with fielding plays.
  • Broadcast footage works, including the score bug — which is how the count and base situation are read.
  • Full games: use parallel analysis for faster results.
  • Pick both teams from your Teams list so hits and runs are attributed correctly.

Who uses it

Coaching staffs reviewing at-bats and defensive plays, players studying their approach at the plate, scouts, and creators building game timelines.
