Basic Rules & Standards

  • 2Bowler must deliver with straight arm
  • 3Batsman can be LBW (Leg Before Wicket)
  • 4Wicket-keeper stands behind stumps

  • 6Powerplay restrictions on fielding placement
  • 7No-ball if foot crosses crease or illegal delivery

What PitchView AI detects in a cricket match

  • Wickets — bowled, caught (slip, keeper or outfield), LBW, run out and stumped.
  • Runs — boundaries and sixes, with the shot (cover drive, pull, cut and so on).
  • Extras — wides, no-balls, byes and leg byes.
  • Appeals and reviews — strong appeals turned down, and the outcome of DRS reviews.
  • Milestones — a batter's fifty or hundred, and a bowler's five-wicket haul.
  • Fielding — dropped catches and misfields.

Where it's clear from the footage, the bowler type (spin or pace) is noted, as is whether a powerplay is in force. Replays are strictly ignored — only the live ball is logged.

How it works

  1. 1

    Add your footage

upload a video file (up to 500 MB: MP4, AVI, MOV, MKV or WebM), paste a direct video URL or a YouTube link. For YouTube you can choose the download quality; the recommended one is pre-selected.

  2. 2

    Choose the sport

pick it from the list, or let PitchView auto-detect it from a YouTube link. You confirm the sport before the analysis starts, and can pick the two teams from your Teams list so events are attributed to them.

  3. 3

    Standard, parallel or live

standard analysis processes the whole video in one pass, ideal for highlights and short clips. Parallel analysis splits long footage into short overlapping segments and analyses several at once, with events appearing as each segment finishes. Stream analysis works on a match while it's being broadcast live.

  4. 4

    Review and export

events appear on an interactive timeline; click any one to jump to that moment. Mark events as correct, wrong or duplicate, edit them, add your own, re-run the analysis with a custom prompt, and export the results.

Getting the best results

  • The broadcast angle from behind the bowler's arm gives the clearest view of each delivery and shot.
  • Broadcast footage works well — replays are filtered out automatically.
  • Long formats: use parallel analysis. It's built for long footage like full T20 and ODI innings.
  • Pick both teams from your Teams list so runs and wickets are attributed correctly.

Who uses it

Coaches reviewing dismissals and scoring shots, batters and bowlers studying their game, analysts preparing for opponents, and creators turning full innings into highlight timelines.

Frequently asked questions

Does it tell different dismissals apart?

Yes — bowled, caught, LBW, run out and stumped.

Does it log DRS reviews?

Yes, with the outcome.

Will a wicket shown in replay be counted twice?

No. Only the live ball is logged.

Does it track ball trajectory like Hawk-Eye?

No. PitchView detects and timestamps match events; it doesn't do ball tracking.
