What PitchView AI detects in a hockey game
- Goals — every goal with its strength (even strength, power play, short-handed or empty net), the scorer where visible, and how it was scored: rush, rebound, one-timer or deflection.
- Penalties — minors, majors and misconducts, with the infraction: tripping, hooking, slashing, high-sticking or interference.
- Power plays — the start of each man advantage.
- Saves — significant goaltender saves: breakaways, glove saves, pad saves and post-to-post stops.
- Big hits — clean open-ice or along-the-boards checks that swing momentum.
- Fights — fighting majors and altercations.
Replays, commentary and crowd shots are ignored, and each event is logged once on its first occurrence.
How it works
- 1
Add your footage
upload a video file (up to 500 MB: MP4, AVI, MOV, MKV or WebM), paste a direct video URL or a YouTube link. For YouTube you can choose the download quality; the recommended one is pre-selected.
- 2
Choose the sport
pick it from the list, or let PitchView auto-detect it from a YouTube link. You confirm the sport before the analysis starts, and can pick the two teams from your Teams list so events are attributed to them.
- 3
Standard, parallel or live
standard analysis processes the whole video in one pass, ideal for highlights and short clips. Parallel analysis splits long footage into short overlapping segments and analyses several at once, with events appearing as each segment finishes. Stream analysis works on a match while it's being broadcast live.
- 4
Review and export
events appear on an interactive timeline; click any one to jump to that moment. Mark events as correct, wrong or duplicate, edit them, add your own, re-run the analysis with a custom prompt, and export the results.

Getting the best results
- An elevated camera at centre ice keeps both nets and the puck in view as play moves quickly end to end.
- Broadcast footage works — replays are filtered out automatically.
- Full games: use parallel analysis for faster results.
- Pick both teams from your Teams list so goals and penalties are attributed correctly.
Who uses it
Coaches reviewing special teams, goalie coaches studying saves, scouts, and creators turning full games into highlight timelines.
