What PitchView AI detects in a rugby match
- Tries — every grounded try, with the scoring team and player, and how it was created: driving maul, line break or counter-attack.
- Conversions — made or missed.
- Penalty goals — kicks at goal, made or missed.
- Drop goals — attempts and results.
- Penalties — penalties awarded, with the offence: offside, high tackle or ruck infringement.
- Cards — yellow cards (sin bin) and red cards, with the offence.
- Turnovers — significant turnovers: jackal steals, knock-ons leading to scrums, and intercepts.
Replays, commentary and crowd shots are ignored, and each event is logged once on its first occurrence.
How it works
- 1
Add your footage
upload a video file (up to 500 MB: MP4, AVI, MOV, MKV or WebM), paste a direct video URL or a YouTube link. For YouTube you can choose the download quality; the recommended one is pre-selected.
- 2
Choose the sport
pick it from the list, or let PitchView auto-detect it from a YouTube link. You confirm the sport before the analysis starts, and can pick the two teams from your Teams list so events are attributed to them.
- 3
Standard, parallel or live
standard analysis processes the whole video in one pass, ideal for highlights and short clips. Parallel analysis splits long footage into short overlapping segments and analyses several at once, with events appearing as each segment finishes. Stream analysis works on a match while it's being broadcast live.
- 4
Review and export
events appear on an interactive timeline; click any one to jump to that moment. Mark events as correct, wrong or duplicate, edit them, add your own, re-run the analysis with a custom prompt, and export the results.

Getting the best results
- A high camera on the halfway line that follows play shows the breakdown, the lineout and the try line.
- Union and league footage both work, broadcast or club camera.
- Full matches: use parallel analysis for faster results.
- Pick both teams from your Teams list so scores and cards are attributed correctly.
Who uses it
